This weekend, Malia Obama was caught being a normal teenager, and the Internet freaked out. Obama, who we’re used to seeing looking prim and proper, took in the festivities at Lollapalooza just like the rest of us would have — in crop tops and short shorts. And, yes, there is video evidence indicating that the elder Obama sister indeed had a fabulous time partying and dancing offbeat with her homegirls, just like everyone else.

Anyway, besides being inspired by her blissfully carefree behavior, we are also loving Malia’s low-key Lollapalooza swag. Below, we recreated looks similar to the ones rocked by the 18-year-old during her weekend of festival fun.

Malia Obama, the president’s daughter, graduated from Sidwell Friends School today.

A photo of the Class of 2016 posted to Sidwell’s Facebook page shows Malia standing proudly in the third row, center, wearing a white dress and surrounded by classmates. “On a perfect June morning, joyfulness re16ned as the Class of 2016 received their diplomas,” the photo caption reads.

Secret Service installed magnetometers to screen attendees at the private school in Washington, D.C., according to several posts on social media. Malia, 17, will attend Harvard University in the fall of 2017, taking a gap year off before moving to Cambridge, Massachusetts.

President Obama and the first family also had lunch to celebrate Malia’s graduation at Cafe Milano in Georgetown.

Today is also Sasha Obama’s 15th birthday, giving the first family even more cause for celebration.

WASHINGTON — President Obama has a plan for his daughter’s graduation: Wear sunglasses so no one can see him cry.

Malia Obama, 17, graduated from Sidwell Friends School in Washington Friday, and Obama told talk show host Jimmy Fallon that he expected to get weepy. “One more example of the president crying,” he said. “It’s going to be bad.”

The event did not appear on the president’s official schedule, but the White House confirmed that President and Mrs. Obama will attend the graduation Friday solely as proud parents.

“He will be there to see his first-born cross the stage and receive her diploma,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Thursday. “And he and the First Lady are enormously proud of their daughter’s accomplishments.”

Sidwell Friends, a 133-year-old Quaker school, has been the alma mater of many presidential children, including Theodore Roosevelt, Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton. Tuition is $39,360 a year.

Malia’s sister Sasha also attends the school, and the day marks a special occasion for her as well: She turns 15 on Friday.

The White House announced last month that Malia would attend Harvard University in 2017 after taking a “gap year.” In the Tonight Show interview broadcast Thursday night, Obama said Malia is “very eager” to leave the cocoon of the White House.

Despite growing up in the public eye, Obama said the girls are remarkably well adjusted.

“They’ve handled it so well. They’re wonderful girls. They’re smart and funny, but most importantly they’re kind. They don’t have an attitude. This was the thing that Michelle and I were most worried about when we got there. We thought, ‘How is this going to work?’ You’ve got these butlers, and guys saluting,” he said.

“And it’s a testimony to Michelle and my mother-in-law that they have turned out to be incredible kids. I could not be prouder.”

For many high school seniors deciding what college to attend and how to begin life after high school is no easy feat but Malia Obama has finally made her decision. After months of speculation and the masses following her college process, the White House announced on Sunday that the 17-year-old will attend Harvard University.

Malia did consider other schools and according to the Associated Press, some stops on her college tour included the University of California, Berkeley; Stanford; New York University; the University of Pennsylvania; Barnard; Tufts; Brown; Yale and Wesleyan.

Both President Obama and Michelle Obama attended Harvard Law School so Malia will keep their legacy going when she graduates from Harvard in 2021.

After graduating from the prestigious Sidwell Friends High school, the eldest of President Obama’s two daughters plans to take a year off before beginning her freshman year in 2017, according to a White House Statement.

Higher education experts tout the off-year as a way to travel, engage in a long-term special project or otherwise use the time in a constructive and meaningful way and Mrs. Obama has said Malia wants to be a filmmaker. Malia spent a summer in New York City interning on the set of HBO’s “Girls,” and in the summer of 2014 worked as a production assistant on “Extant,” a CBS sci-fi drama featuring Halle Berry.

President Obama admitted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in February that Malia’s departure would be difficult for him and said “I was asked if I would speak at her graduation and I said absolutely not. Because I’m going to be sitting there with dark glasses, sobbing. She’s one of my best friends, and it’s going to be hard for me not to have her around all the time. But she’s ready to go. You can tell, she’s just a really smart, capable person and she’s ready to make her own way.”
